Publisher Nan Talese's Slams "Sanctimonious" Oprah Winfrey - Regarding James Frey's "Million Little Pieces"

Remember the whole incident with that author who was on Oprah and allegedly lied about the stories in his book? Well, the publisher of that book, Nan Talese publicly slammed Ms. Winfrey during a Book TV segment Tuesday on CSPAN. Here's more from Time Magazine:

Oprah Winfrey and Nan Talese are giants in their respective fields. Talese is a publishing legend whose imprint at Doubleday includes such prestigious authors as Margaret Atwood, Pat Conroy, Ian McEwan and Antonia Fraser. Oprah Winfrey is, of course, Oprah. The last time the two women met was on Winfrey's show in January 2006, when one of Talese's authors, James Frey, famously apologized for the lack of veracity in his book A Million Little Pieces as Oprah berated him and withdrew her Book Club's lucrative endorsement of the book. All the while, Talese sat next to her author, stunned and sidelined. The event made for great television. And it may now be ready for a sequel.
At a literary convention in Texas last weekend, after a speech by novelist Joyce Carol Oates on the nature of truth in memoirs, Talese took the opportunity to go after the queen of television. In an earlier discussion at the convention, Talese had already called Oprah's slap-down of Frey on television "mean and self-serving" and described it as an ambush. At the Oates event, she was even more outspoken, and her remarks were captured by C-SPAN cameras.

Faith Hill Tells Fan "Ball-Grabbin’ is Disrespectful" After Woman Grabs Tim McGraw's Crotch

Faith Hill wasn't too happy about one fan at a recent concert. She has a message for fans -- keep your hands off her man.
Country music star Tim McGraw was groped by a woman after a performance.
A female fan grabbed McGraw in the crotch at the close of his set as he walked between a barricade and the stage to greet fans in Lafayette, La.
Jumping to his defense was his wife and concert partner, who had an angry response. Hill singled out the offender, saying: "Someone needs to teach you some class, my friend. You don't go grabbing someone else's husband's balls. You understand me? That's very disrespectful."
Hill's representative Paul Freundlich confirmed to People magazine that the fan had grabbed McGraw. Freundlich told the magazine that Hill declined to elaborate.
"Faith dealt with the situation on the spot and said all that needed to be said from the stage," he said.
The incident made its way to Internet gossip sites within hours of the show. It was caught on a cell phone camera and posted by someone in the audience.

He ran off the field and proposed on air to his Boise State cheerleader girlfriend Chrissy Popadics. 1,500 Fillipino Prison Inmates Dance to Thriller

This has to be one of our favorite videos of the year! The inmates from the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (the CPDRC for those on the inside) may have broken the law but they also love to dance, dance, dance. We have no idea how they got the 1500 inmates to learn the choreography to Thriller but they seem to have better dancing chops than most Dancing with the Stars contestants and this was only a practice session!

Kelly Rowland Collapses on Stage During Concert

Looks like severe dehydration has claimed another starlet. (Geez, ladies! Drink some Evian or something.) Here's how things went down according to E! online:

The Grammy-winning Destiny's Child alumna was felled by dehydration during a concert Sunday, collapsing onstage while performing in Lagos, Nigeria.The songbird was performing in extreme heat during the West African nation's ThisDay Music Festival when she fainted and was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital to get checked out.
Publicist Yvette Noel-Schure said that Beyoncé Knowles' former sidekick has since been released and is currently in "good condition."

American Photographer Annie Leibovitz Upsets Queen During Photo Shoot - BBC Apologizes

One thing most of us know: you don't want to piss off the Queen of England. Apparently, American photographer Annie Leibovitz never learned that lesson. Here's more from USA Today:

The British Broadcasting Corp. apologized to Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday for saying she had walked out of portrait sitting with photographer Annie Leibovitz.
The BBC said a promotional trailer released Wednesday from the upcoming documentary A Year With the Queen showed the monarch arriving, not departing.
That scene showed the queen walking down a Buckingham Palace corridor, wearing a crown and her Order of the Garter robes, and telling her lady-in-waiting: "I'm not changing anything. I've had enough dressing like this, thank you very much."
"In this trailer, there is a sequence that implies that the queen left a sitting prematurely," the BBC said.
"This was not the case and the actual sequence of events was misrepresented. The BBC would like to apologize to both the queen and Annie Leibovitz for any upset this may have caused."

A New Hampshire man accused of robbing a bank Saturday took the idea of branch banking a little too far.
The bank's security camera captured images of a man with tree branches and leaves duct-taped to his head and upper body.
Manchester police say the man didn't mention having a weapon, but demanded cash and escaped with some money.
After the video from the bank was broadcast on television, police received a tip from someone who recognized the robber. They've arrested and charged 49-year-old James Coldwell.

Avril Lavigne faces a lawsuit by the members of a 1970s rock band who claim her hit song "Girlfriend" rips off one of their tunes.
Songwriters Tommy Dunbar and James Gangwer alleged in a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court that Lavigne and her co-writers lifted their 1979 song "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," which was originally performed by new wave band The Rubinoos.
"We are not so naive as to chalk it up to some sort of cosmic coincidence," Dunbar said in a statement Thursday. "The lyric, the meter, the rhythm — they're identical."
The first court date has been set for Aug. 28 in Oakland.
