Melbourne High School Volleyball Hazing Video?

"Volleyball Hazing" Video Update - It ended Wednesday night with an email from the Director of the ominous sounding "Office of District and School Security." It rambled over three paragraphs and still failed to answer any of our simple questions: Is this your school? Are these your kids? If so, do the actions contained in this video that was publicly posted on YouTube for the world to see violate your hazing policy or state law? If not, what BASIS did you use for that determination because the hazing experts we showed that video clip to DID think it was hazing . . . albeit a mild form? Nothing. Local media bailed on us and as good as our sources were on the ground it wasn't enough to continue with the story.
So, in the end, it turns out that hazing is a lot like the Chinese government and their underage gymnasts: if we say you're 16, then, DAMM IT, you're 16 and here's the forged paperwork to prove it! As some colleges have pulled on us in the past, if the administration says it's not hazing, it's not hazing, regardless of what the evidence might show. So, you win. If you want to ignore the obvious problem you have, that's your call. I can't force you to look at what's happening under your noses . . . but don't be surprised if it happens again.

Knife Weilding Man Jumps on Police Car, Later Run Over by Cops - Dash Cam Video

This is truly amazing video from the dash camera of not one, but two police cars in Nevada, Iowa. Here's more from WHO-TV:

Nevada Police officers say they were protecting themselves against a violent man, but the man's family believes one of the officers intentionally hit him with his car. Thirty-three-year-old Eric Peterson is in critical condition after being hit by a police car Friday night.
The Nevada Police Department released the in-car video of last Friday's incident. It shows Peterson, armed with a knife, jumping on a police car and then running after it. Moments later, the video shows a second police car hitting Peterson.
Nevada Police Chief Mike Tupper defended his officer's actions, "I'm very saddened this has occurred, but it was not caused by the police officers. The officers were confronted by a very violent and dangerous person who was armed with a dangerous weapon and they had to protect themselves."

Phew! We haven't seen a celebrity plane crash in a very long time (Lynard Skynard maybe?) But this weekend former Blink 182 drummer and MTV reality show star Travis Barker and celebrity DJ and former Nicole Richie fiance DJ AM (aka Adam Goldstein) were both critically injured in a plane crash that killed the four other people on board. It appears that they both suffered burns from the crash. Here is a news report from MSNBC that talks about what an eye witness told police about the crash. Scary stuff people.

Not since the nearly naked guy danced behind a Cleveland weatherman while he did a remote broadcast during a snowstorm have we seen this kind of weather-crisis related frivolity. While Houston TV station KHOU was on the air trying to bring viewers reports of the onslaught of Hurricane Ike, some guy was walking along in the back of the shot along Galveston Bay wearing a bear costume. Just a side note: how exactly is this violating your copyright? Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin Saves TV Crew By Shooting Tiger With Tranquilizer

Mr.Putin has been very busy lately with all that stuff about invading Georgia but he wasn't too busy to save a TV crew from an attacking tiger. He was reportedly visiting the Ussuriisky Nature Reserve in the far east of Russia to see how researchers monitor the tigers in the wild. Just as Putin arrived to the reserve with a group of wildlife specialists he saw the tiger run towards a nearby camera crew. Putin quickly shot the tiger and sedated it with a tranquilizer gun. Geez, out politicians just shoot their friends while hunting.
